July 2019

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Enjoy the month of July; Destin has so much to offer!

Local Events

The main event in July is obviously Independence Day. You can celebrate by spending the weekend at Crab Island or one of the many beaches on the Emerald Coast. A few public beaches worth looking up are O'Steen, June-Decker, Norriego Point, and the beaches all along Highway 98 on Okaloosa Island.

The Emerald Grande is also hosting a party from 7:00-10:00pm on the 4th, of course with fireworks to end the evening.

As for the rest of the month, one can listen to music at the Landing in Fort Walton Beach every Friday at 6pm and Rock the Docks at the Destin Harbor every Saturday at 7pm. Pardi Gras will also continue every Tuesday at 7pm.

Emerald Grande is hosting movie nights throughout the Summer. Here's the July schedule:

7/1: Shrek, 7/8: Despicable Me, 7/15: Tinkerbell, 7/22: The Bee Movie, 7/29: The Princess and the Frog

Fishing News

Red Snapper Season continues for the rest of this month, along with Gag Groupers until December. We've also been catching a lot of wahoos, mingos, and almaco jacks that will continue to be open through July. Give Captain Reid a call at 850-797-7678 to book your trip for this month!

Recipe of the Month

King Mackerel Dip with Crackers

It's the perfect snack for the boat, so have fun with it!

Ingredients: 8 cups crumbled, smoked King Mackerel  8 ounces softened cream cheese 1/3-cup mayonnaise 1/2-medium Vidalia onion  8 ounces of chopped jalapeño 2 chopped green onions 1 bundle of chopped celery  1/2-teaspoon of Old Bay Seasoning

Instructions:

First, prepare your pre-smoked fish base (you can buy Mackerel smoked or do it yourself) by deboning and crumbling the meat. Next mix in all of the ingredients except for the mayo. Add the mayo last to determine the best consistency. Let chill for a minimum of two hours before serving, then enjoy with crackers.
